Story

The story

A vampire mother has raised her son Luka alone for four years, ever since her blood-bonded mate Kaelan left while she was pregnant. When Kaelan finally returns to the city, he brings Vivienne and her human son Damian with him, and he gives them the attention and care he has never given Luka.

During a night hunter raid on the young bloods' training compound, Kaelan runs into the UV zone — not for Luka, whose newly awakened blood makes the burns life-threatening, but for Damian, a human child the light cannot harm. Luka is left curled in a corner, his arms split open, calling for a father who walked right past him.

After four years of carrying every milestone and every hard night alone, the mother decides she has had enough. She cuts the blood ties and moves away with her son, while Kaelan prepares to turn Vivienne and Damian for good.

When danger struck, he abandoned our son to protect her human child, who was not in any danger.

While our son was struggling with lethal UV burns and calling for his father through a high fever, he was celebrating under citywide fireworks with that human boy, who only had a common cold.

He even took the life-saving serum I had prepared for our son, just to use it for the boy’s "pre-transformation conditioning."

He coldly stated, "Vampires are resilient; he’ll endure it. Human children are too fragile."

After four years of raising our son alone, I finally decided to leave.
