I Hired a Boyfriend

Maya is barely holding on in Northwood's top-ranked Computer Science program, a major she never chose and cannot stand. When she needs someone to cover a lecture, she hires a substitute through an app whose profile listed a woman — but the person who answers to her name is a man. He improvises, claiming to be her boyfriend, and the lecture hall erupts when Liam, the golden boy of the department, stands up to say that he is Maya's boyfriend.

The clip goes viral, and Maya knows Liam will be furious about the skipped class, the same fight that has kept them in a cold war for a month. Liam has always pushed her, ever since they grew up across the hall from each other, and he never approved of her secret drawing workshops or her application to transfer majors. Now she must face the fallout, the gossip, and the distance between the futures they want.
