Warm as ever

Six years ago, Hazel broke Caleb's heart, and he left the country. Now he returns to the city a tech mogul, his arrival streamed live across every major platform. Watching from beside her mother, Hazel still loves him, yet she can no longer speak to anyone: the day Caleb left, she died. Her friend Briar has kept the truth from Hazel's fragile mother, pretending all these years that Hazel is living abroad with Caleb.

When her mother cannot reach Hazel by phone, she takes a cleaning job to slip into Caleb's gated community and wait for him. At his door she is mocked and driven away, and Caleb, still bitter, tells her Hazel ran off with a sugar daddy. Collapsing under the humiliation, she is rushed to the hospital, where Caleb and his mother appear, and where he insists he has long forgotten Hazel.

Only Hazel, a spirit no one can see, knows what really happened that year, and she can do nothing but watch the people she loves suffer for a lie.
