On the Day Our Daughter Died, My Wife Went to See Her Lover

When a man is trapped in an important international meeting, he asks his wife Sophie to pick up their daughter Emma after evening study. Sophie, distracted by the birthday party of Max, the son of her first love Ethan Hunter, forgets. Emma walks home alone, is attacked during a robbery, and is found in critical condition at City Hospital No. 2. By the time Sophie arrives hours later with Ethan, the damage is done, and the father's fury erupts.

Emma survives the night but grows eerily calm, asking her father Kyle whether she is truly Sophie's biological child, since Sophie only seems to care for Max. The next morning Emma insists her father fetch soup dumplings from the west side of the city, and he leaves her in Sophie's care. He returns to an empty room: Emma is gone, and Sophie can only clutch her face and insist it is not her fault.
