Story
The story
Claire is a security officer at a mine attraction, and her boyfriend Ethan is a tour guide there. In a previous life, she guided him and his lost tour group out of a sealed-off section of the mine by phone, only for Ethan and her friend Vanessa to accuse her of deliberately leading them into danger. The tourists beat her to death while Ethan and Vanessa watched.
Now Claire has woken on the day Ethan enters the mine again. She explains the mine's conditions as usual, but when his crisis comes, she calmly plays games on her phone instead of rushing to rescue him. Ethan leads the tourists out and slaps her, accusing her of hiding the closure and giving wrong directions. Vanessa again turns the crowd against her, and reporters arrive to hear the tourists' accusations.
Claire refuses to admit to anything she did not do, insisting she is being framed, while Ethan pushes all blame onto her.
Opening excerpt
In my previous life, he led a group into a mine and got lost.
I patiently guided him remotely, and that was the only reason he and the tourists made it safely out.
But when I burst into tears of joy and hugged him, he shoved me away in fury.
“Why did you deliberately guide us into the restricted section of the mine? What do you get out of all of us dying?”
The tourists shoved and cursed me. My best friend and assistant guide, Vanessa, pretended to defend me.
