Left Outside Her Car and Her Heart

Jonathan Graham waits outside his office for his wife, Sophia Young, to collect him while a stomachache worsens. When her car finally arrives, it is already full of her colleagues, and she asks him to wait at the office so she can drive them home first. Rain ruins his umbrella, and the moment leaves him feeling that his marriage has become meaningless.

Sophia's colleague Leonard Jefferson, whom she calls Leo, is among those in the car, and the front passenger seat is taken by a young man named Ian, who is giving his friend Bruce a lift. Jonathan asks the passengers to make their own way home because he feels unwell, but Sophia accuses him of being selfish and insists on driving Leo home first. Jonathan gets out and walks into the storm.

At home he locks himself in the bedroom, and the next day the pain in his stomach only grows sharper.
