Future Me Saves My Life

On the eve of his college entrance exam, Elliot Sutton receives a letter from ten years in the future warning him not to marry Sarah Gibson, his devoted girlfriend, because the marriage will be a tragedy. He dismisses it as a prank until a gaunt figure in a hospital gown appears, claiming to be his future self, and shows him a vision of a hospital corridor where Sarah ignores his bleeding head to fuss over a violinist named Kayden Smith.

Elliot refuses to believe it. Sarah has always been gentle with him, and when he sends her three blocks for cinnamon rolls she returns drenched in sweat, the box still warm. The future Elliot proposes a wager: one month, and if her feelings waver even slightly, Elliot must leave her.

The next day a new classmate arrives: Kayden Smith, poor, frail and painfully shy. As class president, Sarah takes it upon herself to help him apply for financial aid, and Elliot watches the glances that pass between them.
