Story

The story

A nonprofit community kitchen in Brookdale serves affordable hot meals to local seniors, run by a founder who puts thousands of dollars of their own money into it every month and takes no profit. When Margaret Ackles tearfully claims her retirement income cannot cover food, the founder cuts her meal to eight dollars, nearly half the usual fifteen-dollar plate.

Margaret mocks the staff and claims the kitchen is lining its own pockets with government funding.

When the founder cancels her discount and refunds her balance, Margaret slaps the money to the floor and vows to report the kitchen to the community board and have it shut down.
