He Stole My Daughter's Future for His Mistress

A mother has paid 1.2 million dollars for a house in the town's best school zone so her six-year-old daughter, Mia, can attend Oakridge Elementary. When she takes Mia to register for first grade, the clerk tells her the enrollment spot tied to their address has already been claimed. Digging out the family residency booklet, she finds two strangers added to the record: Sarah Hall, thirty, and her six-year-old son, Leo Hall.

Her husband, Mark Miller, is the head of household on the title, and without his signature the pair could never have been registered. He first plays dumb, then claims he was only helping a coworker through a nasty divorce, and finally pushes a private academy brochure at her instead. Furious, she demands he get the spot back or they divorce.

Days pass with no progress and Mark coming home later each night. When she threatens to visit his company and speak to his senior executives, he turns vicious, warning her to stay away. She sees his stalling for what it is: a delay until enrollment closes for good.
