Story

The story

Yvette Fitzroy has been home for three months since her wealthy parents, Hugo Fitzroy and Clara Burke, found her. Now they are at the county family court to finalize her legal placement before the filing office closes at 5:00 pm. It is the ninth attempt; the previous eight failed whenever Ivana Fitzroy, the daughter they raised, needed them.

Outside the office, Ivana asks for one last family photo. Hugo and Clara turn to her at once, and when Yvette reminds them of the closing time, Hugo accuses her of trying to kick Ivana out. The papers are the only proof she escaped her foster parents and the only thing keeping her from being sold off.

As the clock runs down, Yvette texts her billionaire aunt, Victoria Fitzroy, who promised to take her as a daughter if the ninth attempt failed. Victoria replies: wait for me.
