Story
The story
When Emily's company gifts every employee a ten-million-dollar shopping card, she plans to give it to her mother. But her husband Jason and their five-year-old son Leo seize it first, accusing her of selfishness while Jason announces he will buy a Porsche, an apartment for his mother, and pay off his sister's debt. When Emily refuses and demands they leave her house, Jason calls her petty, and Leo strikes her.
Her best friend Chloe then walks in uninvited, and Leo clings to her. Emily notices a custom necklace around Chloe's neck — the one Jason bought last month, engraved with the initials J&C. Confronted, Jason and Chloe turn on her, and Leo begs for Chloe to be his mother instead. Jason demands Emily resign and kneel in apology, or he and Leo will never return.
Emily stands firm, but when her mother arrives for the card, Chloe collapses and Leo bites the older woman's hand. The family Emily has supported for years has already chosen someone else.
