Story

The story

Dexter has built a million-viewer livestream on beating his wife, and she plays along — apologising, kneeling, begging him to hit harder. What the audience cannot see is that her wounds close almost instantly, forcing her to hide a healing factor behind layers of fake blood and FX makeup.

Then a viewer named CryptidWatcher floods the chat with a warning: she is no human, but a Reaper Butterfly, a flesh-eating creature whose scales carry a hallucinogenic toxin. He reminds Dexter of the night she was pronounced dead and later crawled out of the morgue, and of the nightmares that have plagued him since. To prove the theory wrong on camera, Dexter drags her into the bathroom and turns the cold water on full blast.

What Dexter does not realise is that every blow he lands has been feeding him her dust — and bringing him closer to becoming her puppet.

Opening excerpt

If I am even a second too slow, the cuts and gashes heal right in front of the camera.

Honestly, this godforsaken healing factor is a nightmare.

But during today's stream, a highly annoying comment floated across the screen.

"Bro, stop hitting her. Your wife isn't human. She is a Reaper Butterfly. Once the pupa breaks, it feeds on human flesh!"
