Back In My Own Body

Hazel has been married to Nick for six years, but for four of them a "sunshine girl" system host controlled her body, using it to win the heart of a ruthless billionaire. Now Hazel has suddenly seized back control, and floating text in the air makes clear that everyone expects the male lead to reject the pathetic side-character and fight to bring the Sunshine Girl back.

When Nick enters with a glass of mango juice — a drink that once made Hazel gag — she forces it down and mimics the Sunshine Girl's bright, empty smile. The light dies in Nick's eyes. Gaunt and hollow, he looks nothing like the arrogant heir she once knew, and when she reaches to steady him, he flinches away. The floating comments remind her that he originally wanted to marry her radiant older sister, Harper, who refused him, leaving Hazel as the substitute.

Raised in Harper's shadow and shoved into the Sinclair family's car without warning, Hazel has always been a terrified ghost of a person. Now she must keep performing the role of the woman who stole her life, even as Nick's suspicion grows.
