Not On The Survival List

Ben Beckett wakes on Christmas morning to a silent house. His parents and his sister Zoe are gone, and outside the apartment the whole city stands drained of people—three hundred million vanished overnight. Every call he makes ends in a busy signal, a dead line, or voicemail.

Scrolling back through his father's smart-cam footage, Ben watches the family's last ordinary hours, then the moment his father steps onto the balcony and returns pale and shaken. At 3:03 AM his parents stand in his doorway, and his mother's lips form the words: don't wake him. They take Zoe and leave. Ben is left behind, deliberately.

With no note and no explanation, he searches the frozen internet and drives to his fiancée Bella's empty home, where he kicks the door in, still asking why he was the one left out.
