Story

The story

In her previous life, Lena was pushed toward the undead by her own brother Tyler while their parents carried him to safety, leaving her to be torn apart. Now she has been reborn, and she remembers every slight: the birthday cakes given to her brother, the cheap shoes she wore while he flaunted brand names, the university she gave up so her parents could buy his place. This time, she will not care for them.

As the zombie outbreak draws nearer, Lena quietly fortifies her home with a bulletproof door, iron bars, solar panels and months of supplies, telling no one. She even claims she must leave the city on a business trip, knowing her family will come begging for shelter once the crisis begins.

When her father turns and her brother does the unthinkable to survive, Tyler kneels at her door begging to be saved. Lena only sneers and slams it shut.

Opening excerpt

Reborn, I decided to no longer care for them, letting them fend for themselves.

I watched as my father turned into a zombie and was killed.

My brother, in a desperate attempt to survive, even drank our mother's blood.

Finally, my brother knelt at my door begging: "Sister, please save me."

But I only sneered and slammed the door shut, leaving him to be devoured by zombies.

"Come on, sis, have you been so immersed in your live streaming that you've become confused? You actually believe those ridiculous online news?
