Story

The story

At Mark's birthday party, his wife Jenna's childhood sweetheart Leo bursts in with a child and kicks over the table, demanding Jenna choose between him and Mark. The guests learn that Jenna, who claimed to be allergic to male proteins, secretly had a child with Leo. When Mark calls for a lawyer and divorce papers, Leo accuses him of manipulating Jenna's father to force the marriage and tearing the lovers apart. The guests turn on Mark, branding him a monster and a hypocrite.

Jenna backs Leo's story, and the child, coached by Leo, pretends to fall while helping Mark's mother, who collapses under the humiliation. As Mark rushes her to the hospital, videos of the chaos spread online. Jenna later calls from a room with a family portrait of herself, Leo, and the boy, admitting she married Mark only to save her family's company and that she loved Leo all along.

Mark vows to send divorce papers, but Leo's video and gloating voice message reveal three years of betrayal, hardening Mark's resolve.

Opening excerpt

He kicked over the table in front of me, sending champagne flutes and plates scattering across the floor.

“Jenna,” he roared, “give us an answer, me and my son. How much longer are you going to make us wait?”

It was then that I learned the truth. My wife, who claimed to be allergic to male proteins, had secretly had a child with him. No wonder she never let me touch her. No wonder she refused to have a baby with me.
