Story

The story

Willow Sterling has spent a fortune turning actor Aidan Thorne into a star, keeping him as her obedient pet. When he offers her a pair of torn silk stockings, warning messages flare before her eyes, revealing that he plans to announce his relationship with another woman at her mother's funeral. Willow wraps the stocking around his neck until he nearly blacks out, then releases him.

Called home by the butler Benson, she reaches her mother's deathbed in time for a final farewell. Her biological father, Alan Pierce, appears at the funeral with a young woman, Mariela, declaring her Willow's elder sister and the family's eldest daughter. Willow dismisses them, but Alan schemes to introduce Mariela to society and seize the Sterling fortune.

On the forty-ninth day of mourning, Mariela demands that Willow yield her place as heiress. Willow shoves her into the pool and walks away. At a wrap party, she finds Aidan kneeling before Mariela, massaging her ankle, the two wearing matching rings. As Mariela whispers her triumph, Willow tears the gown from her body.

Opening excerpt

As I rose from the A-lister’s bed, he held out a pair of torn silk stockings, his voice a low purr.

“Put them on. So exquisite.”

The moment my fingers brushed against the ruined silk, a series of messages flared in front of my eyes, sharp and clear as text on a screen.

【Heiress, throw them away! That bastard thinks torn stockings are trashy. He’d never let his angel wear them, so he’s conning you into it.】
