Story

The story

Autumn Lockhart buys a fox fae from Vulpyr Hall, where such companions are sold once a year. The owner warns her that Fennrick Thorne is mistrained: instead of learning to please an owner, he studied how to make money. He is offered at ninety percent off because past buyers kept trying to get intimate with him, and he kept running away.

Fennrick agrees to observe Autumn for seven days. If she touches him, he leaves; if she passes, he will make her filthy rich. The week becomes a war of attrition, with neither willing to give in, while Autumn finds herself increasingly drawn to him.

As the seventh day approaches, Autumn is unsure whether Fennrick will keep his word, and her friend Lila Merrick's words about fox fae desires leave her restless.

Opening excerpt

The owner of Vulpyr Hall had been very clear. He was only here to help me get rich, nothing else.

A year later, my assets had skyrocketed to a billion.

But… Wasn’t he supposed to stay out of anything intimate?

Why did it feel like he wanted to get under my skin?

Vulpyr Hall had finally reopened for the year. Rumor was they were selling a batch of fox faes again.
