Story

The story

When their parents die and the family empire collapses, Elle and her brother Graham are left buried under millions in debt. He takes a job testing condemned properties, while she works as a background corpse on low-budget film sets. Five years of relentless hustling bring the balance down to a final $130,000, and Elle signs up for a clinical drug trial to close the gap.

Cash in hand, she returns home and overhears Graham on the phone with their supposedly dead parents. The bankruptcy was staged, a punishment for her old spending habits. Reeling, she hides the truth from him, then follows him one night to a high-end steakhouse, where she learns he has been meeting her old rival Vivianna, who tormented her on his instruction.

As Elle pieces together how much of her suffering was engineered, she must decide what to do with a family that has been lying to her for five years.
