Story

The story

Sasha agreed to Mr. Sterling's offer: give his son Julian a grandson, and he would wire her ten million dollars. Julian had lost his memory in a car crash and now has the mind of a ten-year-old, along with a terror of being touched. Sasha spent two years becoming his friend, then forced the issue, and miraculously conceived on the first try. Their son, Lucas, was born.

But at Lucas's one-month celebration, Julian's first love, Chloe, appeared, and Julian reached for her hand without hesitation. Sasha took the money and left, returning to law school in the US. Five years later, back home, a small boy chases off a stranger hitting on her and calls her "Miss." He looks exactly like Julian, and his name is Lucas.

When Sasha denies being his mother, Lucas's eyes fill with hurt. Outside, Julian stands in a tailored suit, cold and unrecognizable, with Chloe beside him. Sasha walks away, but the past is no longer something she can outrun.
