Story

The story

Georgia Swanson has shared everything with her best friend Lesley Chavez since they were five. Now she shares Miles Simmons too: every gift he buys her comes with a second one for Lesley, every trip is booked for three, and even the crab meat she picks clean for Miles ends up in Lesley's bowl. Miles and Lesley plan her holiday weekend between them, redeem her saved-up points for Lesley's mystery box, and forget her fever medicine for three hours.

When Miles hands Lesley the umbrella in the rain and gives her the master bedroom for the night, Georgia stops waiting. A message from Greg James, the senior Lesley has crushed on for six years, gives her a way to answer at last.

She asks him for vinyl records, and for perfume.

Opening excerpt

I shared everything with my best friend. Including my boyfriend's affection for me.

When Miles Simmons bought me a gift, there was always a second one for Lesley Chavez.

When he helped me put together a proposal, my name went first. Lesley's came second.
