Story

The story

On his wedding day, Ashton hears his bride Wendy Halton whisper that she slept with Joe Noelson, then watches a scandalous video of the two play before the guests. She calls it revenge for him, a joke to liven the party, and the crowd's laughter leaves him numb.

Three years earlier, his then-fiancée Summer Shaw cheated with Joe, the underprivileged student he sponsored. Wendy pulled Ashton from that despair, and he gave Summer his kidney before the betrayal. Now Wendy says she only approached Joe to avenge him, yet she flaunts him, mocks Ashton's one kidney, and bets with Joe on whether he will cry or demand a divorce.

Ashton asks for a divorce, but Wendy returns with Joe at her side and shuts him out into the freezing rain, the same rain she once sheltered him from.

Opening excerpt

It was the day of my wedding. Wendy Halton huddled up to me and whispered, "I slept with Joe." She pointed at the big screen, a smile curling her lips.

"Summer dumped you so she could have Joe. I swore I'd make her drink from the well of betrayal. So, I slept with the man she loves."

My eyes went wide with disbelief. It was then that I realized the screen wasn't showing our wedding photos. Instead, they were showing something far raunchier, filthier. It was Wendy, and she was going at it with Joe Noelson.
