Perfection Was Never Love

For seven years, Celia has waited for Miles Corbett to marry her. Eighteen times the ceremony has been stopped, each time because her timing fell short of his perfectionist standards. Yet whenever Audrey Sloan, her best friend, makes a mistake, Miles abandons his rules without a thought. He replaces Celia's tulips, her bridesmaid, even her family's heirloom gown with Audrey's preferences, and keeps a private score that leaves Celia at negative five while Audrey has thousands.

When Audrey jumps the cue and says "I do" first, Miles cancels the wedding once more and stages a kiss with her before a cheering ballroom. Watching them, Celia finally understands that the bride was never the problem. She messages Nathan Delaney about an overseas post and agrees to leave with him.

Back in the bridal suite, she throws away the gown and everything Miles chose for his perfect wedding, telling him old things should be discarded. As the clocks chime, she sends him off to the reception toast, ready to step off his stage for good.
