Story
The story
Ever since Gavin Rhodes lost his company, he has been a shadow of the man Sierra married, sinking into depression and attempting suicide twice. Desperate to give him a reason to live, she offers him an antique brass lamp from her grandmother, telling him it grants three wishes. Gavin wishes for his company back, and it returns bigger than before; he wishes for Rhodes Manor, and the foreclosure is reversed. Overjoyed by his recovery, Sierra is ready to reveal the truth behind the lamp when she overhears him on a video call with Lindsey Novak, his high school sweetheart, planning to use his final wish to trade his old life for a new wife and a place at the top.

Ever since his company went bankrupt, Gavin Rhodes had been a ghost of the man I married.
He fell into a black hole of clinical depression, and after I pulled him back from his second suicide attempt—finding him in a bathtub of crimson water—he broke down in my arms. He sobbed until he couldn't breathe, clutching my shirt like a drowning man.
"Sierra, I’m dragging you down with me," he wailed. "The debt, the shame... please, just let me go. Let me die."
My heart felt like it was being crushed in a vice. I couldn't lose him.
