Story
The story
After three months in a coma, a man regains consciousness in his hospital bed and overhears his wife, Lily, with another man in the room. The man is Adam Wilson, the orphan he raised as a brother and later arranged to work as Lily's driver. They mock him as a vegetable, discuss conceiving a child and then discarding him, and leave for a hot spring hotel.
He lies motionless, too weak to act, and tells no one. When Lily returns with soup and Adam visits with a grin, he can barely contain his fury. He remembers the fire he entered to save Lily, the coma that followed, and her vow to care for him.
Discharged with a divorce agreement in his pocket, he follows Lily and Adam into the obstetrics and gynecology department, and her smile freezes when she sees him.
Opening excerpt
After falling into a coma, I heard my wife constantly talking about sleeping next to me in the hospital to conceive my child. But on the day I regained consciousness, I overheard her bringing a man back to my room.
They were making out on the bed next to mine, their heavy breathing, rustling clothes, and whispered conversations filling the air.
"Damn, you dare to get intimate with me right in front of your comatose husband?" the man said.
With a click, I glimpsed my wife's nimble hands unbuckling the man's belt.
