Story
The story
On the eve of a high-risk surgery, Ethan steps down as lead surgeon, refusing the case his department head sister Natalie presses on him. In his past life he accepted it, and when the co-lead surgeon Julian broke protocol and caused a catastrophic accident, Natalie and his girlfriend Chloe pinned every error on him. Fired, charged, and disowned by his parents, he jumped from the hospital roof.
Waking on the day before that surgery, Ethan declines again, citing the National Clinical Skills Competition. Chloe and Natalie rage, then demand he hand his reserved competition slot to Julian. When Julian operates alone and the surgery goes wrong once more, Natalie orders Ethan to claim he was lead surgeon and take the fall, revealing she has already falsified the records to protect Julian.
Ethan refuses to be their scapegoat a second time.
