The Girl Who Survived the Night

After a night she never consented to, Risa Shaw sees scrolling comments appear before her eyes. They call her the female lead of a story in which she will run away pregnant, drop out of school, and return years later with genius twins, eventually marrying Winson Cooper, the wealthy man labeled the nation's heartthrob. One comment tells her not to wash away the evidence and to go to the police, calling her Nia, the nickname her mother and grandmother gave her.

Risa refuses that scripted life. She wants to stand on a stage with her violin, not become Mrs. Cooper. She goes to the police station and then to a law firm, where a lawyer questions her account, blames her, and leaves the paper blank. When she tries to leave, she collides with a solid chest, and the lawyer greets Mr. Cooper.
