No Longer Her Good Boy

For five years, Jordan has stood beside Rachel, the CEO of her own company, and watched her hand his hard-won projects to Toby, the man she once loved. When she and Toby return from a business trip, Jordan stops fighting. He drafts Toby's proposals, takes the blame for sabotaged designs, and gives up his own shares without a word. Rachel is baffled by her suddenly compliant boyfriend, while Toby gloats that the cold shoulder has finally tamed him. Pleased, she calls Jordan a good boy and tells him to propose.

But Rachel has forgotten something: during their long cold war, she signed his resignation without reading it. Jordan has already checked out of the relationship and reached out to his old mentor at a research institute in Europe, ready to reclaim the career he abandoned for her. With three days left before he disappears, Rachel comes home to find him on the phone—and demands to know what resignation he means.
