Swapping Out the Groom

Before the wedding, Leah's fiancé Jayden Corrick vanishes on a camping trip with friends. She spends a sleepless month searching for him, worn thin with worry, while his parents insist he will simply turn up. Then, a week before the ceremony, she spots him at a romantic restaurant, holding and kissing his childhood sweetheart, Sophie Muller. He tells Sophie he has no regrets and plans to stay away until Leah is driven mad with worry, confident his parents will cover for him.

Hidden in the crowd, Leah calls home and says she is done searching and will never marry him. She packs six years of his belongings into a burlap sack and leaves them by the door. The next morning Jayden's parents arrive, furious that she has stopped looking and warning her against calling the police, while hinting that Sophie might have been the better match.

Leah offers to call the wedding off entirely, and though his mother seems almost pleased, his father urges her not to decide in anger. As they leave, she hears them arguing in the stairwell, and the truth of their part in his disappearance begins to surface.
