My Wedding Gift Was His Wife

Less than a day before her wedding, a woman goes to view a luxury condo that has just dropped in price. The seller is Chloe, a young, radiant woman who speaks fondly of her attentive husband and the penthouse he has bought for them. Then the woman sees a framed wedding portrait on the wall: the groom is Simon, the man she has loved for seven years and is meant to marry tomorrow.

Chloe reveals that Simon bought her the condo outright, that the deed is in her name, and that she is thirteen weeks pregnant with a child he already calls Peanut. The purchase date is two years old, made just after the woman's own engagement, when Simon claimed a crypto loss had wiped him out and took her savings. When Simon arrives, he walks past her as if she were a stranger.

Back at their apartment, he offers her the condo as a settlement and insists he married Chloe only for the baby. He tells her she was always the strong one, and that her own past set the bar low. She is left staring at the man she loved, holding a contract she never wanted.
