The Politics of Desire

Elvira Corleone is the feared jewel of the Corleone family, a beauty whose whims end in submission or a body at the bottom of Bayton Harbor. When her best friend Lilian Allen bets her the power of judgment over Bayton Harbor's underground scene if she can make Lilian's brother Vincent fall for her, Elvira accepts without hesitation.

But the bet goes sideways when Elvira finds Vincent feverish and drugged in an Allen family warehouse, a Lucero family emblem left behind. She becomes his antidote, and for three years their affair grows in the dark corners of the Allen empire, until Elvira overhears Vincent call her nothing but a sexual partner.

He offers her ten million dollars and walks away, and Elvira follows his car to Kressida Airport, where she sees the woman he truly wants: Elena Corleone, her half-sister, the person she hates most.
