Story

The story

Zoe and Leo were Hollywood's dream: childhood sweethearts who climbed from high school theater to the Oscars. Zoe gave up her own acting spot at Juilliard to become his manager, and when he won, he proposed to her live on the red carpet. Five years into their marriage, his new co-star Chloe latches onto him, and between the two women, Leo always chooses Chloe.

On Zoe's birthday, which falls on Chloe's, Leo leaves her waiting all night with a platter of crab she cracked for him. He returns at dawn with melted leftover cake and wilted roses, while Chloe posts photos of ninety-nine roses and Leo shelling crab for her. Then Leo brings Chloe to their agency and demands Zoe manage her.

When Zoe arranges an audition, Chloe accuses her of sabotage, and Leo threatens to humiliate himself unless Zoe apologizes and secures Chloe the role. At a dinner with studio heads, Leo offers up Zoe to drink, though he knows her chronic ulcer makes alcohol agony. As she pours, his panic comes too late.
