He Tilted the Umbrella, I Called Off Wedding

A sudden thunderstorm traps Violet Smith under her office building. When Ethan Quinn arrives with an umbrella, he tilts it toward Sophia White without hesitation, leaving his own shoulder soaked and telling Violet to wait while he walks Sophia to the car. Violet slips off her heels, throws them away, and walks home barefoot through the rain. At home, her mother takes one look at her and asks who did this. Violet says she has figured things out.

Ethan and Violet grew up together, and their families always assumed they would marry. Yet Ethan now calls only to ask for clothes for Sophia, and later he lets Sophia stay in the wedding apartment, wearing Violet's pajamas and slippers. When he asks Violet to comfort Sophia and warns her not to make a scene at his mother's birthday, Violet decides the engagement is over.

At the Quinn house, Violet hands Mrs. Quinn a gift box and says she will give her a big gift tonight.
