The Power Outage

On his wedding night, the power goes out, and Liam's wife Chloe claims she drunkenly wandered into his cousin David's bedroom. The next morning, a scream reveals Chloe and David naked under his duvet. Liam's mother begs him to swallow his pride and endure the scandal, but he cannot accept it and begins avoiding them both.

When Chloe is hospitalized after a car accident, Liam rushes to the hospital, only to overhear her boasting to friends. She deliberately got him drunk and flipped the breaker to spend the night with David, and the accident is fake. His mother helped, hoping David would carry on her late brother's bloodline. Chloe plans to divorce Liam temporarily, have David's baby, then win him back, confident his mother will force him to bow.

Liam silently removes his wedding ring and throws it away. He takes a three-year overseas assignment, then discovers two hundred and fifty thousand dollars drained from his savings by his mother for David's condo. He freezes the account, and when she demands more money, he refuses.
