Story

The story

A new dessert shop opens in Lily's apartment complex, and the owner is Lucas, the handsome neighbour from downstairs who moved in three months ago. He is gentle and helpful, and he opened the shop after learning she loves sweets. The desserts win her over, and she becomes a daily regular, even allowed to request whatever she likes.

But business is terrible, and she overhears the old waiter warning Lucas the shop may soon close. Unwilling to lose it, Lily asks her photographer best friend Sarah to help promote the desserts. Then Sarah arrives to find the shop shut, and it opens only after Lily messages Lucas. Sarah teases that the owner must like her, and Lily insists they are just neighbours.

As the two friends quietly plan their promotion, neither is sure what the shop, or its owner, is really waiting for.

Opening excerpt

The hot guy downstairs opened a dessert shop because I said I liked sweets.

But business was terrible. I actively helped him promote it.

Then I discovered the shop only opened when I went there.

When my best friend found out, she said it sounded like one of those "pig-butchering" scams where a guy creates a perfect persona just for you.

I was scared and stopped going.
