Story

The story

Gina is an ordinary rideshare driver who works the graveyard shift and pads her tips with a fake psychic routine. When a distraught passenger named Diana begs her for news of her missing brother, Gina invents a comforting lie and sends her to the fountain at Riverfront Park.

The next morning the park is cordoned off by Seattle police. Divers pull a waterproof backpack from the fountain, holding the belongings and remains of Diana's brother Devin, plus a ledger exposing an interstate human trafficking syndicate. Detective Zach of the Major Crimes Unit calls Gina and asks her to take him and Captain Rhonda Cooper for a drive.

Across a coffee shop table, Zach reveals that Diana says Gina pinpointed her brother's location in minutes. Gina insists it was a coincidence, but the police are not convinced.

But one night, a heavily intoxicated woman stumbled into my backseat, sobbing uncontrollably. She told me her younger brother had been missing for days and asked me what she should do.

Just to offer some harmless comfort, I threw out a random suggestion: "Don't lose hope. Go check the fountain at Riverfront Park tomorrow morning. You might find a miracle waiting for you."

The next day, I woke up to find the entire city under police lockdown.
