Story

The story

Elara, the false heiress of the Montgomery family, is forced into an arranged marriage so their real daughter, Seraphina, can marry her true love. Her groom is Dominic Thorne, a man rumored to be ruthless and cold. On her wedding day, everyone pities her, but Elara's only concern is the secret life growing inside her — her baby, three months along.

As Father Michael asks her to take Dominic as her husband, a tiny voice speaks from within her womb. It warns her that Jasper Hayes, the man she loves, is a fraud who plans to marry Seraphina for the family fortune and will stage an accident to drown Elara and her baby in the river. It also claims Dominic has loved Elara in secret for ten years.

Shaken, Elara says "I do." Dominic takes her to his secluded villa and offers a one-year contract marriage, tossing her a black card. When Mrs. Montgomery calls to berate her, Dominic takes the phone and declares the Thorne family doesn't apologize to anyone.
