The Choice You Made

During a reality show shoot, Jessie and her sister Lily both fall into the water. Her husband Julian dives in without hesitation and saves Lily, then walks away without looking back, leaving Jessie sinking toward the bottom of the lake until the crew pulls her out. The next day she hands him divorce papers, and he asks if she is seriously jealous that he saved Lily first, who cannot swim.

The divorce is finalized quietly. Julian insists they need not be enemies after three years of marriage, but Jessie tells him divorced means divorced. She walks away wealthy: twenty million dollars, a New York penthouse, a Los Angeles villa and commercial properties, and moves into a Manhattan apartment.

Their marriage was a merger between the Thorne and Sterling families. The pact was meant for Lily, but after Julian's car accident left him with a permanent limp, Lily refused, and Jessie, the biological daughter switched at birth, was made to marry him. She had loved him since reading his mathematics papers at Columbia. Then Lily returned.
