Story

The story

Irina has loved her stepbrother Simon Rossi, the Don, for ten years. When he is poisoned, she offers herself to him and ends up pregnant. He takes responsibility, but on their wedding day his first love, Camillia, claims an asthma attack. Camillia dies on her way to him, and after the wedding Irina's health fails; as she dies in childbirth, a doctor reveals Simon poisoned her, and the baby cannot be saved.

Irina wakes on the night before it all began, back in the moment Simon pulls her close and calls her "babe." This time she only wants to survive. She breaks free, calls Camillia to him, and lets the two spend the night together, certain she has changed her fate. Yet the next morning Simon presents Camillia to the old Don as his fiancee, and Camillia warns Irina to give up on him.

Irina resolves to restart her life, packing to leave and shredding the love letters she once wrote. Simon finds them, mocks her long crush, and threatens to throw her out of the house if she crosses him again.

Opening excerpt

I loved my stepbrother, Simon Rossi, the Don, for ten years.

When he got poisoned one day, I offered myself to him and ended up pregnant.

He smoked half a packet of cigarettes before saying, “I’ll take responsibility for this.”

However, his first love, Camillia, claimed that she had an asthma attack on our wedding day.

I begged Simon to wait until our ceremony was over before going to her.

Unfortunately, Camillia escaped the hospital and died on her way to find him.

Prior to her death, she called Simon 99 times.
