Story

The story

On her twenty-second birthday, Lucas Sterling discovered his ward Jane's journal and the secret feelings she had hidden inside. He tore it apart, sent her abroad to a remote university in Europe, and married Chloe, the woman he had always loved.

Five years later, Lucas buys Jane a ticket home to attend his and Chloe's anniversary gala, warning her not to do anything to Chloe. Jane returns with her young daughter, Lily, and steps back into a world where she is remembered only as the girl who tried to seduce her guardian.

At the gala, Chloe's welcome is bright and cutting, and when Lucas finally sees Lily, his shock is plain. Jane must face the family that cast her out, and the questions her daughter's existence raises.

On my twenty-second birthday, my uncle discovered my journal.

When he found out I had a secret crush on him, he shipped me out of the country and spent millions on a wedding for his "one true love."

At the airport, he warned me with a cold, indifferent face, "Don't ever have thoughts you shouldn't have."

Years later, I returned to the States holding a child. He looked stunned. "Yours?"

I smiled and nodded. "Yeah. Just finished my postpartum recovery."
