Story

The story

Cassandra wakes to a second chance on the very day her boyfriend Sheldon Miller plans to get a tattoo at the parlor run by his childhood friend Winnie Frost. In the life she remembers, she tried to stop him, and Winnie burned down her home, killing her parents and herself, while Sheldon and her classmates covered for the arsonist.

This time Cassandra says nothing. Winnie offers the celebrating classmates discount tattoos, and they eagerly mark their skin, ignoring the rules that bar tattoos from the government-backed majors they dream of. When their teacher Ms. Arianna Tyson sees the ink, she warns that no decent college will take them, but Winnie calls the tattoos mere stickers and the class blames Cassandra for snitching.

Sheldon has already hidden Cassandra's exam admission slip, and his stepfather William Foster has sworn not to fund a repeat year. Cassandra only smiles, waiting for the results to speak for themselves.

Opening excerpt

In order to celebrate the success, Sheldon's childhood friend, Winnie Frost, decided to invite Sheldon and the classmates over to the tattoo parlor her family ran for celebratory tattoos.

I grabbed Sheldon's hand and reminded him that students in aviation majors weren't allowed to have tattoos of their own, only to get slapped by him instead.

The classmates around me even started mocking me relentlessly.

"Just how shameless are you, Cassandra? Sheldon and Winnie are the actual childhood friends here!
