Story

The story

Jordan Wilford has always believed his girlfriend, Winona Elstein, loves him. She keeps a useless intern, Daniel Lowe, on her payroll, cooks for him, takes him on trips, and hand-makes him gifts, all while insisting it is for Jordan's sake. When a health screening reveals Daniel shares Jordan's rare blood type, Winona calls him a backup source of blood, a precaution for Jordan's future.

After a car accident, Winona refuses to let Daniel donate a single drop, then drugs Jordan and has him wheeled into surgery to give Daniel a kidney. What she does not know is that Jordan already has mid-stage leukemia, and the operation accelerates its spread. The doctor gives him ten days. Winona still speaks of marrying him, still chooses Daniel at every turn, and Jordan finally sees the truth behind her care.

Days from death, Jordan asks only for a ten-day prescription for painkillers, and decides he no longer wants to marry her.
