Story
The story
Brandon Briggs is dragged into court by his own parents, Gideon Briggs and Meryl Wheeler, on charges of being an unfilial son. In this world, the court is the highest authority, and a guilty verdict means ten years in prison and the loss of everything he owns to his younger brother, Cody Briggs. If he is proven innocent, Cody faces a hundred years behind bars and his parents are cursed with misfortune.
Relatives and onlookers urge Brandon to apologize, insisting his parents only ever loved and cared for him. They do not know what he knows: he has been reborn, and in his last life he confessed, died sick and abandoned in prison, and watched his family celebrate with his money.
Now, as the memory extraction begins and millions watch, Brandon refuses to plead guilty. He intends to expose the truth behind his family's devotion, whatever the pain it costs him.
Opening excerpt
If I'm proven to be guilty, I will be sentenced to ten years in jail. Meanwhile, my younger brother, Cody Briggs, and our parents will inherit all of my assets. At the same time, they will be blessed with luck and longevity.
But if I'm proven to be innocent, Cody will be thrown behind bars for 100 years. Our parents will be plagued by misfortune, and they will also contract diseases. As for me, I will receive a ten-million-dollar prize, and I get to maintain my youth for eternity.
