Story
The story
After two years with Darryl Griffin, June Aldridge finds a ring in his coat pocket and is sent to a hotel for the night. Believing a proposal awaits her, she instead returns home to watch Darryl slide that ring onto Courtney's finger before a cheering crowd. The guests mock June's parents, who sell buns, and her unstable work as a dream designer, while Courtney boasts of her salary and her father's position.
When June protests, Darryl ends their relationship on the spot, and Courtney calls her the homewrecker. Yet June knows her family's true wealth, and that the home is hers, bought and hidden behind a friend posing as landlord. Darryl demands the deed as proof; June says it rests at her parents' house.
