Story

The story

After a year abroad, Georgette returns home quietly to surprise her fiancé, Jerry Rodgers. Instead, she finds her house filled with smoke and an entire wall covered with urns. A woman bursts in, claiming the house belongs to her son-in-law, Jerry, and orders Georgette out.

Jerry is cold, insisting the house was their marital home and he had every right to lend it out. He books her a seven-dollar roadside motel and tells her to check out by 6 AM. When Georgette calls the property management, she learns a woman named Beatrice Hicks registered the house as her own using a copy of the title.

Georgette suspects Jerry used the photo of the deed she once sent him to create a fake document. Her father, who bought the house as a wedding gift, vows to involve their lawyer and end business ties with Jerry's family.

After spending a year abroad, I returned home quietly, hoping to surprise my fiancé.

But the moment I stepped into my house, I froze.

The place was filled with smoke, and an entire wall was covered with urns. I felt like I'd been struck by lightning.

Panicked, I fumbled for my phone to call my fiancé and ask what the hell was going on. But before I could even dial, a woman burst into the house.

“What’s wrong with you?” she snapped. “Can’t you see this house is for storing urns? You just barged in. What if you disturbed the spirits?”
