I Died on the Day He Watched Fireworks with His Female Secretary after Proposing to Me

Vivian has spent eight years chasing Lucas, the boy who once protected her after her mother died. When she learns a tumor is growing in her brain, Lucas proposes — then stands up, pockets the ring and calls it his parents' request, leaving her to smile through the humiliation alone.

He keeps his back to her in bed, saves his tenderness for his secretary Zoe, and leaves her to visit his parents by herself. Vivian hides her diagnosis, asking only to see snow and the Northern Lights in Norway, and Lucas answers that he has no time.

With her family history of cancer closing in, she must decide how much of her remaining life to spend waiting for a man who never turns around.
