Story

The story

Julia Horne and her sister Julie are summoned by their dying scientist father to choose between the world's only two replicants. Julia seizes the gentle, affectionate Kendall Powell, mocking Julie for taking the seemingly lesser bionic man, Zack Bradford, whose domineering looks hide a dutiful, domestic nature. Julie says nothing, remembering a past life in which she chose Kendall and was destroyed by Julia's jealousy.

After their father dies, Julia grabs the family money and abandons Julie with a remote experimental house and a cheap apartment. Bound to Zack, Julie discovers he cooks, cleans and cares for her, yet their funds are nearly gone. She turns their life into a food blog, and Zack's cooking draws a hundred thousand followers within a month.

As Julia's cruelty and debts close in, Julie watches her new bionic partner with growing unease: Zack is far more than the system promised.
