A Heart Gone With the Wind

At a company party, Taylor Kennedy plays a mouth-to-mouth cookie game with his female assistant while his wife, Faith, watches from the crowd. When Faith laughs along, the room falls silent; Taylor scolds her for being a buzzkill, then kisses the assistant in front of everyone. Faith feels nothing — not even on her ten-year anniversary with him.

After the gathering, Yvonne Carter sits in the front passenger seat of Taylor's car and asks Faith to ride in the back. At home, Faith waits with a cake she made, but Taylor returns at two in the morning, the anniversary already past. When he shoves her during an argument over Yvonne's message, she falls and injures her arm and ankle; he leaves to tend to Yvonne, and Faith's friend Willa Collins takes her to the hospital.

Taylor cooks for her for the first time, though Faith has seen that he cooked an elaborate meal for Yvonne that same afternoon. As he accuses her of playing games, she answers indifferently and limps to the guest room. Then she sees a photo of Taylor hiking with Yvonne.
