Gradually drifting away

At a press junket, Ava Reed tells a stunned reporter that she and movie star Ethan Hayes are already divorced. The remark goes viral, and Ethan, furious, demands to know when that happened. Ava arrives at his hotel room with divorce papers in hand, ready to end their seven-year marriage after learning he checked into a hotel with his co-star, Scarlett May.

Ethan insists his intimate scenes with Scarlett are only acting, but Ava reminds him of the rule they made when they married: no intimate scenes. He had always been possessive, controlling her career and punishing any co-star who got too close. Now he has broken that rule for Scarlett, the actress his agency signed and whom the internet calls "Baby Ava."

When Scarlett appears from the next room, Ava photographs them and forces Ethan to sign. As she leaves, he asks when she became so unreasonable, the same words he once used about Scarlett.
