Story

The story

On the eve of their wedding, Finn Hoyle watches his fiancée Dorothy Bryant kiss her ex-boyfriend Rob Ross during a game of Truth or Dare, then disappear behind a screen with him. When the pair emerges, Finn claps and offers to let Rob take his place at the altar. Dorothy insists it was a drunken mistake, but Rob taunts Finn, hinting that Dorothy has been lying for years about the promise the couple made to save themselves for their wedding night.

Finn calls his father to change the bride. Dorothy snatches the phone, terrified that the Hoyle family, whose influence built the Bryant Group, will learn the truth. Rob urges her to break up with Finn, claiming she no longer needs him. Humiliated and betrayed, Finn refuses to be the lovesick fool any longer.

As the elite guests watch, Dorothy's fury and Rob's provocations collide with Finn's cold resolve, and the wedding hangs on a single choice.

Opening excerpt

On the night before our wedding, my fiancée's ex-boyfriend lost in three rounds of Truth or Dare.

Round One was Truth. He had to confess the most intimate thing he'd ever done with the opposite sex.

Rob Ross shot me a wink. "That scar on Dorothy's thigh? I accidentally bit her there."

Round Two was Truth again. He had to reveal a secret no one else in the room knew.
